Ribbon flame with limestone
This project featured our 50cm Bioethanol Container.
This is an example of how you can turn your old chimney breast into a stunning ribbon flame bioethanol fireplace surrounded by limestone with our 50cm bioethanol insert.
There used to be an open chimney breast in the space where we built the fireplace. At first the open space was all in brick, then we rendered it with sandstone and cement. Finally we painted the inside of the opening with fire-proof black paint. The bio container fits into a pre-cut slot that is larger than the bio container. This allows for slight expansion and no heat transference.
Testing of the Bio container inside the opening before finishing the work
We rendered the opening with sandstone and cement to create a smooth finish and prepare the wall for a limestone surround (sourced separately).
Note how the limestone surround loweres the opening, so the final effect is a stunning letterbox opening. Inside the hole, there is much more height for the flame and hot air.
Finally, the limestone sorround and the white pebbles that we used as decorative accessories around the ribbon flame create the exact elegant look that we were trying to achieve.
